How does employee benefit plan attract new employees?
We both know that the first 2 questions a prospective employee will ask is: how much will you pay me and what are the benefits?
You know the cost is about $1.00 per hour which is $160/mo. so you can confidently tell him his salary and tell him the following benefits:
- If you died, we will continue your salary for about 6 months. If you died accidentally then double that amount. If God forbid, your spouse or one of your children died, then we will continue your salary. Should you get disabled and can’t work, we will also continue your salary.
- If you contract a life-threatening critical illness we will pay you a lump sum of $25k in addition to all other benefits.
- If you or any family member needs prescription drugs, chiropractors or other paramedical services, you are all covered from now on. We will also pay for your eyeglasses for you or any family member, out of country travel is also taken care of. When you or your family goes to the dentist, we will pay that too.
I am telling you that if you present it this way, many prospective employees will refuse a higher paying job somewhere else because of the security you are providing for him and his family through a good employee benefit plan.
This is quite a bit of mileage for $1 or $2, per hour and will help you attract new and valuable employees
Also there was a survey done a couple years ago on 1500 various Canadians.
Almost 50% of whom said they would prefer benefits to $20k cash. Another 14% said they couldn’t answer right now.
This survey demonstrates the value of benefits to people – particularly to those with families.
